A Madisonville woman was charged with burglary after a suspicious subject complaint last week.

Madisonville Police said officers responded to Brown Lane around 2:30 Friday afternoon after a caller reported a woman entering their home, picking up a $200 pair of Oakley sunglasses, and grabbing letters before dropping the sunglasses and leaving the home when confronted by the victim.

Police said the woman described, 35-year-old Lachaunte Hopson-Spencer, was found walking on Silkwood Avenue near Gordon, where she resisted being searched and appeared under the influence of controlled substances. Officers said they found rolling papers in her pocket and suspected marijuana tucked inside a book in her possession.

She was booked into the Hopkins County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary, public intoxication, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
