Dr. April Devine, director of pupil personnel for Hopkins County Schools, has been named the new president of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.
Her installation took place during the association’s annual meeting and conference on July 25.
According to officials, Dr. Devine is a lifelong educator and has been an active member of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators since 2012. She offers a strong background in student needs, school operations, and statewide policy as she steps into her new role. Dr. Devine’s leadership journey began in the classroom as an English teacher and dance coach, before advancing to positions such as curriculum coordinator, assistant principal, director of assessment, and, currently, director of pupil personnel.
Dr. Devine has held several leadership roles within the association, including chairing the Leading Innovative Learning task force and participating actively in the Kentucky Women in Education Leadership group. She earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Specialist degrees from Murray State University and completed her Doctor of Education at Oakland City University.
Officials state that as president, Dr. Devine will lead the Kentucky Association of School Administrators board of directors as they continue working to elevate the voices of school leaders and advocate for public education. They said her presidency begins at a pivotal time, with the association concentrating on efforts such as the Coalition to Sustain the Education Profession, preparations for the 2026 General Assembly, and the rollout of new leadership development programs aimed at strengthening and supporting educators across Kentucky
Dr. Rhonda Caldwell, Chief Executive Officer of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, says Dr. Devin exemplifies servant leadership. She adds that her heart for students, strategic mindset, and ability to unite people around bold ideas make her exactly the kind of leader Kentucky’s education system needs right now. Dr. Caldwell says the association is proud to have Dr. Devine leading them forward.
