A Madisonville man has been charged with burglary and assault after an investigation by local police.
Madisonville Police say 20-year-old Roger McCarty went to his ex-girlfriend’s home on South Daves Street around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and forced his way inside by kicking the door open. Once inside, officers report that McCarty grabbed and pushed his girlfriend as he moved through the house.
According to police, the victim had recently ended the relationship, and there was a disagreement between the two regarding some money.
Police reported that McCarty had left the residence before officers arrived, but was located and taken into custody a short time later near the intersection of Crestview Drive and Grapevine Road.
McCarty was charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
