MCC Hosted a Truck Driving Open House on Wednesday

Madisonville Community College held a Truck Driving Open House on Wednesday, giving the public an inside look at its Commercial Driver’s License program and the opportunities it offers for students and employers alike.

Melanie Tapp, Director of Workforce Development at Madisonville Community College, explained that the truck driving program was launched there a few years ago.

click to download audioShe said there is also a tuition incentive plan available to assist employers who want to help someone obtain a CDL license.

click to download audioAccording to Tapp, the CDL program takes about one month to complete.

She noted that some employers cover the cost of the program as an incentive for their employees and prospective drivers.

click to download audioMadisonville Community College also has a simulator to help train truck drivers, as well as team-building events.

click to download audioThe Truck Driving Open House took place Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Brown Badgett Building on the MCC campus.
