Officials Break Ground on E. Hofmann Packaging Madisonville Facility (w/PHOTOS)

Tuesday brought a major milestone to Hopkins County as Governor Andy Beshear joined local officials and E. Hofmann Packaging leaders to break ground on the company’s first U.S. operation—a $43 million investment that will bring 164 new jobs to the area.

Gov. Beshear said Kentucky’s economic momentum is fueled by leading companies that continue to invest and grow in the state. He added that Kentucky’s partnership with Canada thrives because the state welcomes new business and offers a skilled, dedicated workforce.

click to download audioGov.Beshear shared that Kentucky has set a new export record in 2024, with over $47 billion in goods shipped worldwide. He noted that Canada is the state’s largest export market, accounting for nearly 22 percent of all Kentucky exports.

4th District State Rep. Wade Williams,  who also serves as president of the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation, called the project a promising game-changing investment and a turning point for Hopkins County that will also have a ripple effect in the community.

click to download audioHe added that the owners are not just constructing a facility—they are putting down roots in Hopkins County. He described E. Hofmann Packaging as the type of company local leaders want to welcome, one that values innovation and invests in both its people and the community.

Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield credited former Economic Development Corporation president Bill Rudd for making the project possible. He said the investment brings hope and new job opportunities to Hopkins County after they have faced disaster after disaster. Above all, he expressed his deepest gratitude to the company’s owners.
