A moment of pride and resilience was on full display in Hopkins County as Governor Andy Beshear, school officials, and community members gathered to celebrate the opening of new auxiliary gyms and storm shelters at both local high schools Tuesday afternoon.
At Hopkins County Central High School, Governor Beshear—whose father, former Governor Steve Beshear, grew up nearby in Dawson Springs—acknowledged the many natural disasters the community has endured in recent years. He noted that the new storm shelters will offer a peace of mind and will help ensure students’ safety and the community.
