A traffic stop in Madisonville early Monday morning led to the arrest of a local woman on charges of drug possession and identity theft.
Madisonville Police report that around 12:50 a.m. Monday, officers stopped 40-year-old Keyla Foster near the intersection of Nebo Road and Briarwood Drive for having just one working taillamp. During the stop, officers said Foster gave a false name and date of birth because she was aware of an active warrant for her arrest.
Officers said a K9 unit detected narcotics inside the vehicle, where police found synthetic drugs in Foster’s purse
Authorities reported that a criminal history check showed that Foster had a previous conviction for possessing synthetic drugs.
Foster was taken into custody and charged with possession of synthetic drugs-2nd or subsequent offense, no tail lamps, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and theft of identity. Foster was also served a Hopkins County Circuit Court bench warrant for probation violation for a felony offense. She was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
