Several outstanding middle school and high school athletes were honored by the Hopkins County Board of Education at Monday night’s meeting for their outstanding achievements.
The school board honored both the High School and Middle School Springs Sports Athletes of the Year. The high school athletes recognized were as follows:
• Athletes of the Year – Trashuan Smith, Kiley Demoss, and Caroline Lovvorn
• Citizenship Athletes of the Year – Zach Demoss and Kailey Barber
• Heart of the Team Athletes of the Year – Danyel Reynolds and Cameron White
• Sportsmanship Athletes of the Year – Eli Pinkerton and Kylee Satterfield
The Middle School Spring Sports Athletes of the Year who were recognized include the following:
• Athletes of the Year – Tito Devargas and Sadie Kirk
• Citizenship Athletes of the Year – Daniel Knight and Olivia Martin
• Heart of the Team Athletes of the Year – Westin Barber and Karoline Riddle
• Sportsmanship Athletes of the Year – Gabby Brasher and Asher Eichholz
The school board also recognized Madisonville North Hopkins student athlete Trashaun Smith for his outstanding achievement as Regional Champion in the high jump, triple jump, and long jump at the regional track championships.
Additionally, several Regional Tennis Champions were recognized, including the Madisonville North Hopkins High School girls and boys teams for winning the Region, along with the boys doubles champions Noah Mays and Justin Rodgers, girls doubles champions Kiley Demoss and Caroline Lovvorn, and boys singles champion Ethan Larkins.
