Webster County Man Killed After Vehicle Collides with Train

A 22-year-old Sebree man was killed when his vehicle collided with a train in Webster County early Sunday morning.

According to Sebree Police, Webster County Central Dispatch was notified by CSX just after 12:30 a.m. that a vehicle had struck one of their trains within the Sebree city limits.

Police reported finding the vehicle several hundred feet from the point of impact, still in front of the train and straddling the railroad track.

Sebree Police said they found an unresponsive man behind the wheel, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said it was discovered that the 22-year-old was a resident of Sebree. At this time, police have not released the name of the victim.

Police noted the train was headed south and stretched across multiple crossings within Sebree, causing several crossings to be closed for several hours.

Police said Several agencies responded to assist at the scene, including Sebree Fire and Rescue, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Providence Police, Poole Fire, Robards Fire, Deaconess EMS, and the Webster County Coroner.
