indictment-15

The Hopkins County Grand Jury issued indictments on several individuals during its July session, involving cases of sexual assault, wanton endangerment, and stabbing incidents.

Russell Stokes, of Nortonville, was indicted on charges of third-degree terroristic threatening and first-degree wanton endangerment.

The charges are from a March investigation on Wells Road, where Hopkins County deputies responded to a shots-fired complaint. Deputies said a neighbor reported that Stokes fired shots at her as she attempted to deliver a vet bill, after his dogs had jumped her fence and attacked her dogs days earlier.. Deputies said the victim reported that Stokes threatened her, told her to leave his property, and then pointed a handgun at her vehicle, firing several rounds as she was driving away. Deputies noted that no bullet holes or impact marks were found on her vehicle, and the woman was not injured.

Emma Stotts, of Hanson, was indicted on a single count of second-degree assault in connection with a May stabbing at a home on Hall Street.

According to Madisonville Police, Stotts entered the residence with a knife and woke the victim, who was in bed with Stotts’ ex-boyfriend. During the confrontation, police said Stotts stabbed the victim, causing a puncture wound in the right side of her chest.

A true bill was returned on Amanda Brothers, of Dawson Springs, on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place and third-degree rape.

Brothers was arrested by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office in April after allegedly having sexual intercourse with a boy between the ages of 16 and 18. Deputies reported that Brothers was under the influence of alcohol when they made contact with her.
