Clyde Bymaster/Hopkins County Jail mugshot
A Madisonville man was charged with arson after he allegedly threw homemade Molotov cocktails at a neighbor’s home Thursday night.
According to Madisonville Police, firefighters called officers to 711 Hanson Street around 11:00 on Thursday night after putting out a fire at the home and spotting Molotov cocktails at the scene.
When police arrived, they determined that four Monster energy drink cans had been turned into Molotov cocktails. While searching the area, officers also said they found more Monster drink cans and a gasoline container with four separate spots of spilled fuel nearby at 721 Hanson Street.
Police reported that the victim and her son, who were home at 711 Hanson Street during the incident, told officers she serves as the payee for her neighbor, Clyde Bymaster.
Officers were initially unable to reach Bymaster, but around 3:00 Friday morning, they were able to question him about the incident. Police said that Bymaster admitted to making the Molotov cocktails with gasoline and throwing them at the home because he was upset with the victim.
Bymaster was taken into custody on a first-degree arson charge and booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
