Following a round of severe weather in western Kentucky at midweek, the attention now turns to this weekend, where we should see our first 90-degree weather of the year.

Meteorologist David Witten says temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will be in the 90s with heat index readings around 100 to 105.

Witten says the hot weather will continue into next week, and we should begin to experience long-term summer weather.

According to the National Weather Service, the deepest into the summer we’ve gone without a 90-degree day was 1989, when it hit 90 for the first time on July 10.

As for the Paducah area, the latest 90-degree day was on June 24, 2003.
