The Hopkins County Board of Education honored retiring Superintendent Amy Smith and Board member Josh Osborne during Monday’s meeting.
According to officials, Superintendent Smith gave a presentation on initiatives that were started during her tenure, including the “Remember Your Why”, which encouraged faculty and staff to focus on what’s most important. During her remarks, Smith reportedly touched on several topics, including the district’s successful transition out of the COVID pandemic, facilities progress, the Strategic Plan, Hopkins County Future Ready Graduates, Deeper Learning, and the addition of district mental health counselors and a visual performing arts teacher in each school.
Smith plans to spend more time with family, and officials said her grandson joined her at her seat as the school board meeting continued Monday night.
Osborne said he has enjoyed his time serving on the school board. He noted that board members have worked well together and made decisions that have had a positive impact.
