Hogart’s Postseason Power Fueling Racers’ Run to Omaha

It’s been a fairy tale ride for Madisonville native Jonathan Hogart and his Murray State baseball teammates who open play in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday.

After earning All-District and All-Region honors for the Maroons, Hogart began his college career at Wabash Valley College and was ready to hang up the cleats before Murray State head coach Dan Skirka rang his phone.

Hogart bats leadoff for the Racers and has smacked 22 home runs this season while batting .335. Six of his homers have come in the postseason as the Racers followed up their Missouri Valley Conference title with two wins over Ole Miss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and two wins over Duke in the Super Regional.

Hogart says a film session helped him boost his offensive numbers for the Racers this season.
