The Madisonville City Council moved forward on applying for a grant Monday evening, including a major playground project at Mahr Park and appointments to local boards.
As part of new business, City Clerk Kim Blue introduced a resolution seeking approval to apply for a $1 million Land and Water Conservation Grant.

click to download audioIn other business, the Council addressed an appeal to the Planning Commission concerning a zoning map amendment for Shamrock. Councilman Stevenson explained that the Council had two possible options for how to handle the appeal.
click to download audioWard 3 Councilman Adam Townsend proposed that the Council hold its own “trial-style meeting” to hear the appeal, a motion that was unanimously approved.
In other action, the Council approved the reappointment of Mary Haley Hancock to the Tree Board to serve a 3-year term, expiring June 21, 2028, and the appointment of Clay Williams to the Zoning Adjustment Board to fill the unexpired term of Frank Williams. He will serve on the board through June 30, 2029.
