A Madisonville man was charged with DUI after a single-vehicle wreck over the weekend.
According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred in the 2300 block of Rose Creek Road in Madisonville shortly after 11:00 Saturday night.
Deputies said an investigation determined that 31-year-old Austin Staser ran off the road into a yard after he stated he swerved to miss a deer. Deputies said the car then struck a tiled driveway, traveled over the driveway, and into the other side of the yard.
Deputies reported that a passenger in Staser’s vehicle, 35-year-old Cayla Garber of White Plains, was injured in the crash and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Authorities said the investigation also determined that alcohol was involved and considered a contributing factor to the collision.
Staser was taken into custody and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, 1st offense, aggravating circumstances. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
