After an extensive search and interview process, Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel announced Friday the selection of Ken Carver as Executive Principal of the new Christian County High School, effective July 1.
Carver will lead the newly consolidated high school, which brings together students and staff from across the district under one roof.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Carver into this new role,” said Superintendent Bentzel. “His experience, vision, and commitment to student achievement make him the right leader to establish a positive culture and high expectations at the new Christian County High School. As we unite students and staff from throughout the district, his leadership will be key in building a school community focused on excellence, opportunity, and success for every student. We look forward to the energy and direction he will bring as we begin this new chapter for our high school families.”
Bentzel said a committee made up of district and community leaders carefully reviewed a strong pool of candidates before selecting Carver. The decision, he noted, was driven by Carver’s proven leadership, his dedication to student success, and his experience in building strong school communities. Carver currently serves as principal of Muhlenberg County High School.
“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community as the first Executive Principal of Christian County High School – Home of the Tigers,” Carver said. “With the storied history of excellence in both Hopkinsville and Christian County high schools, I am excited to embrace some of their traditions while using them as a foundation to build new traditions that unite and better the community we serve. I’m looking forward to meeting and building relationships with the gifted students, hard-working staff, and committed community members. Go Tigers!”
Carver has led Muhlenberg County High School for the past three years, following a decade as assistant principal. His career in education began as a high school science and biology teacher at Muhlenberg North and Muhlenberg South High Schools. He also coached baseball and basketball and served as assistant athletic director. With more than 20 years in education, Carver holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and teaching certification from Murray State University, along with a Master of Arts in Education Administration and a Rank 1 from the University of the Cumberlands.
“Our board is confident that Mr. Carver is the right leader to guide the new Christian County High School,” said CCPS Board Chair Tom Bell. “This is an exciting and historic time for our district, and we believe his leadership will help build a strong, unified school community where every student can thrive. We look forward to supporting him in this role and extend a heartfelt welcome to him and his family.”
Carver has been married for 21 years to his high school sweetheart, Alicia, a teacher at Greenville Elementary. They are the proud parents of identical twin daughters, Abry and Ava, who are seniors at Muhlenberg County High School and plan to attend Murray State University this fall.
In his free time, Carver enjoys watching his daughters play softball, staying active, vacationing at the beach, and cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats and St. Louis Cardinals.
