Elderly Couple Injured in Sunday Madisonville Crash

The Madisonville Fire Department worked a single-vehicle wreck over the weekend that led to an elderly couple being transported to the hospital.

The Madisonville Fire Department responded to a reported car fire at a traffic accident with injuries at the intersection of Tucker Schoolhouse Road and Nebo Road shortly after 9:00 Sunday night. Upon arrival, firefighters said no smoke or fire was found, and the elderly couple and their two grandchildren had gotten out of the vehicle.

According to fire officials, an SUV was traveling eastbound on Nebo Road when it ran off the south side of the road, drove through a ditch, hit a culvert, and came to a stop in a gravel lot.

Officials said the two children were uninjured in the crash and were picked up by their parents. They reported that the elderly woman was complaining of chest pain from when the airbags deployed, and the elderly man was complaining of lower back pain. The couple was transported by Medical Center Ambulance Service to the hospital for treatment.
