Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced this afternoon that due to the severe weather in the forecast for this weekend, plans to make repairs to the on-ramp between U.S. 41 and Interstate 69 southbound in Madisonville have been cancelled.

According to officials, the repairs will be handled next weekend, if possible.

This work is part of the ongoing $10 million interstate rehabilitation project along a 4.34-mile section of I-69 in Madisonville that stretches from KY 70 to the KY 2657/Fowler Road overpass

INITIAL STORY:

Drivers need to be aware that an interstate rehab project along a portion of I-69 in Hopkins County continues this week with a planned temporary closure of the southbound onramp from U.S. 41 on Saturday, May 3.

Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet say crews plan to block the ramp early on Saturday morning to make repairs to a base failure that frequently causes potholes. The closure is expected to last until 3:00 Saturday afternoon.

According to officials, lane restrictions continue along the southbound portion of the project where work is still ongoing, although lane restrictions in the northbound lanes have temporarily been lifted. Due to workers being present in and around the median, a 55 MPH speed limit is still in effect in both the north and southbound lanes.
