Three men from Hopkins County have been arrested and charged after an investigation into a drug trafficking operation within the county.
The investigation was spearheaded by the Madisonville-North Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit in collaboration with the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations West Division.
Authorities report that over the course of a several-month investigation, detectives carried out multiple controlled purchases from 48-year-old Steve Binnix of Hanson, as well as 27-year-old Jakkur Stum and 22-year-old Jarell Liddell, both from Madisonville. During these operations, detectives reportedly acquired powder fentanyl on several occasions. Police said the substance was sent to the Kentucky State Police Forensics Lab for analysis, where it tested positive for fentanyl.
On Thursday, police said that detectives executed two search warrants in Madisonville and one in Hanson, resulting in the seizure of suspected fentanyl powder, a handgun, cash, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana.
Binnis was charged with three counts of trafficking fentanyl, while Stum was charged with two counts of trafficking fentanyl and Liddell was charged with one count of trafficking fentanyl. All three men were booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
