Hopkins County Grand Jury Issues Indictments for Multiple Sex Crimes Against Minors

During its March session, the Hopkins County Grand Jury handed down several indictments related to sex crimes against minors.

Matthew Orange, of Madisonville, was indicted on charges of prohibited use of an electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity, third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, distribution of obscene material to minors, four counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under 12, and four counts of third-degree sodomy of a person under16 years of age. The alleged crimes reportedly occurred between June 2023 and December 2024, and on February 11, 2025, and were investigated by the Madisonville Police Department.

In a separate true bill, Orange was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia from an incident on February 20 investigated by Madisonville Police.

The grand jury also indicted Donald Clayton, of Madisonville, on charges of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor under 16, and four counts of third-degree sodomy that reportedly occurred between July 2023 and August 2024. The case was investigated by the Madisonville Police Department.

A true bill was returned on Kevin Mitchell, of Madisonville, on a charge of first-degree rape of a minor under the age of 12, and a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree assault. According to the indictment, the charges are from February 8th and were investigated by the Madisonville Police Department.
