Officials with Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville recently expressed their gratitude to the McEnaney Family McDonald’s and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ohio Valley for providing a home away from home space for parents with newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Since the Ronald McDonald House Charities Parent Care Rooms opened at the end of October, hospital officials indicated over 30 families have stayed near the NICU. Nurses report that the larger beds have been an important addition, enabling both parents to rest comfortably together while remaining close to their babies. During recent winter storms, they said these rooms provided a safe, warm refuge, eliminating the need for parents to travel on snowy, icy roads. Officials emphasized that these rooms have been invaluable to both the community and the families.

Hospital officials also thanked customers who opted to round up their purchases at local McDonald’s locations. In an October interview with WFMW’s News Edge, Chris McEnaney, Owner-Operator of McEnaney Family McDonald’s, shared that their Round Up Program was launched in late 2022. He reported at that time that the two McDonald’s locations in Hopkins County had raised a combined nearly $250,000 to support families.
